Tennis (Girls): Varsity vs. Exeter (04/20/24 3:15 PM)

Event Details

Deerfield’s varsity girls tennis team closed their week at home versus Exeter on Saturday. The morning rain blew through and allowed for a pleasant day on the courts outdoors. Credit goes to Exeter for their smart and disciplined approach to doubles. The red team earned all three doubles points.

At singles, Deerfield battled to make things more interesting. Senior Captain, Linnea Dreslin, played a tremendous match at second singles, forcing two long and closely contested sets. Linnea never backed down or stopped playing with pace and confidence.

Maggie Molson earned an impressive win at five singles. Maggie’s driving groundstrokes earned her a decisive first set win followed by a gritty second set tie-break victory. At fourth singles, Kate MacKenzie battled her way to a third set and played too many spectacular points to count. Her Exeter opponent ultimately took the match in a 12-10 tie break.

The team regroups Monday to prepare for a Wednesday road date at Andover.
