Tennis (Boys): Varsity vs. Loomis Chaffee School (04/17/24 3:00 PM)

Event Details

Boys varsity tennis had a 5-1 decisive victory on the road against Loomis Chaffee on Wednesday, 4/18. The win brings the team to a 3-2 record heading into the second half of the season.

DA had wins across the board in doubles, using strong groundstrokes and aggressive net play to defeat solid opponents. Tai Feng, with partner Tom Molson at #2, logged his fourth doubles win of the season, as did Anthony Sparacio at #3 with partner Tommy McMahon.

After securing the doubles point, Loomis Chaffee was able to even the match score with a win at #3 singles. Not long after, #6 Walker Naughton- undefeated since the team’s first dual match- #2 Gunter Weldon, and #4 Tai Feng closed out their straight set victories to clinch the match for the Doors. #5 Anthony Sparacio’s win then gave the team its fifth and final point of the day, at which point #1 Ethan Li’s match was called. Though Li lost his first set in a tight tiebreaker, it was quite the battle- his one set was the same length of time it took three courts to finish their matches entirely!

These victories gave Sparacio and Naughton their fourth singles wins of the season, which are very impressive and important stats at their positions in the lineup!

The team competed hard in cool, windy conditions and will use that momentum going into their next match at home against Andover team on Saturday, 4/20 at 1pm during Spring Family Weekend. We look forward to seeing lots of family and friends at the match!
