Deerfield scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 4th and 5th innings to take the lead and hold on for a 4-3 win over Cushing Academy. 3B Sawyer Ramey had a 2 out hit in the bottom of the 4th inning to start the rally that eventually netted Deerfield’s first two runs. CF Malachi Costello had a 2RBI single to left field in the 5th inning to give Deerfield a 4-3 lead. SP Griffin Dupois picked up the win going 5 innings and allowed 3 ER on 5 hits, 6 K’s and 5 BBs. RP Tripp Woytowicz threw 2 shut out innings and struck out 3 batters to record the save. Deerfield improved to 5-1 and 2-0 in league play.
