Deerfield faced off against Suffield on their home court Saturday, notching a 50-36 victory, and moving to 10-2 on the season. Having already faced the team twice in Suffield, Deerfield knew what to expect: sharp shooting and a solid 2-3 defense. The coaching staff implemented a new 1-2-2 press at the request of big man Eddie Andrews ’27 and found some immediate success, jumping to a quick 12-2 lead. Teams played an equal match after that, with Deerfield unable to connect on many open looks and another lackluster free-throw percentage, going five for 22 from charity stripe. Coaches stressed hustle and fun at the beginning of the game, and all players responded. Andrews had some huge blocks, and the Doors executed their fast break with better precision and more effectiveness. Game Note: The Doors are without Jaylin Julmice ’27 who suffered a potential season-ending injury during the previous game against Williston. The team gets to enjoy a day off on Monday thanks to a much-anticipated Head of School Day and will need to quickly prepare for a rematch against NMH at home on Wednesday.
