Deerfield fell to their Western Mass foe, Northfield Mount Hermon, on their home court 36-39. Playing at a “neutral” site – one typically reserved for the JV games – Deerfield couldn’t find their touch from outside, connecting on only 3-17 shots (18%) from behind the arc. Stronger on the boards, more aggressive in passing lanes, and more eager for loose balls, NMH secured the victory despite a valiant effort from the Doors. Down seven with less than a minute to play, Deerfield ran perfect offense for two clutch threes from Isaac Shobola ‘27, who finished with eight on the day. The home team had a chance to tie the game at the buzzer, but a three-ball from Jerry Du ’27 flew a little long. Deerfield struggled to control the ball on offense and found themselves out-hustled on the defensive boards for the first time in a while. Deerfield found important contributions from Tommy Govi ’26 and an outstanding performance from Jack Wagner ’26, whose hustle set the tone for the second half. Game note: Du took the first offensive charge of the season late in the second half. The Doors look to bounce back against their rival Choate at home on Saturday at 12:30pm – a difficult task as the Wild Boards arrive with an undefeated record.
