Deerfield boys thirds basketball moved to 11-4 on the season with a win over Loomis on Wednesday in Windsor, CT. Deerfield squeaked by with a 50-46 victory, having previously beat them by 31 at home. The biggest opponent was Coach Hunt, who left the hot air on in the back of the van on the way out, putting the starting five into a deep sleep. Deerfield came out slow and lackadaisical, falling behind by 8 points before finally finding some energy and evening the score at half. The player of the game is the entire Hotchkiss girls’ junior varsity game who entered at the start of the half and started cheering for their fellow visiting team, igniting more aggression on defense and some beautiful outside shooting from Deerfield. Jerry Du ’27 found three three-balls with Isaac Shobola ’27 and Johnny Scagel ’25 also finding a pair. Loomis came charging back at the end of the second half, scoring a deep three with 10 seconds to go down four and putting the pressure on Deerfield to in-ball under pressure and hit some free throws. Deerfield returns home for their final game of the season against the Westminster School in hopes of finishing the season at .750.
