JV boys hoops won 48-43 in a thrilling overtime victory against St Paul’s on Friday night. The Pelicans jumped out to a 10 point lead and led at half 26-16. The Doors fought back with excellent defense and rebounding, led by Teddy Hamadeh, and cut into the lead to single digits in the final minutes. Deerfield trailed by two with just seven seconds left when Will Machnik drove the length of the court and hit a last second layup in regulation to send it to overtime. In the extra period, Sungmin Ahn and Machnik hit clutch three pointers, and Mac Hynds sunk two pressure free throws to seal the victory. The Doors move to 9-6 on the season heading into the final game against Choate next Friday night.
