Deerfield fought hard in a tough season opener at a triple meet with Brooks and St. Mark’s. New wrestlers acquitted themselves well and learned a lot. Veterans brushed off the rust and fought hard, win or lose. Special mention for Matthew Hough, winning both his first matches against experienced opponents making smart, strategic decisions and using solid technique. Captain David Pearce wrestled smart to win via tech fall and Bronson Branch ground his opponent down to eventually win by pin.
