In a spirited season opener, the Deerfield Academy Thirds squash team took to the courts at Eaglebrook School for a thrilling afternoon of competition. With several players making their debut in competitive squash, it was a day of learning, growth, and some nail-biting rallies.
The match saw incredible support, with crowds gathering on the first two courts to cheer on the players. Both teams fed off the energy as points were hard-fought and relatively evenly contested. Of the ten matches played, Deerfield captured four victories, narrowly missing out on an overall win, with the official count for the first nine matches tipping in Eaglebrook’s favor at 5-4.
Two Deerfield players pushed their matches to a decisive fifth game, demonstrating resilience and determination. Other matches showcased moments of brilliance and strategic play, particularly from those stepping onto the court for their first competitive experience—a milestone achievement in itself.
