The Deerfield JV Volleyball team came into this final home game against Taft ready to fight for a final home win for Senior Captains Devon Coleman and Kingsley Carolan. The first set began with a band when setter Selin Aksoy rattled off 12 straight points on her serve, including three aces. Kingsley Carolan followed that performance up with 6 more serving points in a row taking the Doors to a commanding first set lead. The Rhinos threatened briefly with a serving run of their own, but the jv squad pushed through led by 4 kills from Devon Coleman and took the first set 25-11.
In the second and third sets the team played a better overall game playing great defense and serving and passing well. The hitters began to see the ball well and get more kills from a pretty good defensive effort by Taft. Right side hitter Travis Gerst, ‘26 buoyed the team with strong defensive play with a block and four digs the the two sets. Jessica Wu, ‘27 and Gigi Selvig, ‘27 turned on the offense with 2 kills and 7 kills respectively. The Doors were excited to close out the two sets, both 25-12 and secure a final home win for Devon and Kingsley. They will be missed tremendously next year, but we are looking forward to their final two games of the season against St. Paul’s and Choate.
