Deerfield’s Thirds team got outmatched by Williston’s young but skilled JV squad, which controlled the ball exceptionally well and kept the game in DA’s end from start to finish. Considering the Wildcats outshot Deerfield by at least 15 to 1, much credit for today’s respectable score goes to keeper Jerry Du ’27, who made a slew of great saves and conducted the defense with his voice. Defensemen Rich Zhou ’26 and Ryan Bai ’26 did much to stymie some of Williston’s many attacks, and midfielder PJ Pirsch ’28 dispossessed many Wildcats to keep attacks from developing. Beginning the game with just 12 players, Deerfield saw three forced to its bench by the end of the game, and we’re grateful to Coaches Johnson and Lopez Diez for pulling two of their own players to keep the numbers even. With a winning record in the balance, Deerfield looks to finish strong on the road in its rematch against Loomis on Wednesday and its season-ender at Choate on Saturday.
