Despite an early 6:30 AM departure time, our team arrived at Choate, crisp and sunny like the weather, ready to put their best foot forward. We worked all season for this game, and we are proud to say that our team played their best game of the season. The offense’s passing was precise and controlled, and the defense was well-positioned and recovered quickly as needed. We took control of the game early, putting pressure on their side of the field. Taylor Wilburn made a nice pass to Maggie O’Brien who scored our first goal. Consistent passing from Charlotte Steffensen, Emily Bruno, and Rose Manning, helped to keep the ball in our control for most of the first half of the game. During a corner play, Campbell Ardrey was able to score off a hit from Maggie O’Brien. Alva Fink, who was out for much of the season, showed impressive defensive channeling to contain the Choate offense. Our third goal was a beautiful team effort starting with a hit from Taylor Wilburn that Campbell Ardrey was able to send to Rose Manning, who was waiting by the goal to give the ball its final push into the cage. In the second half of the game, Choate put on a burst of strength, spending significant time on our side of the field, but they were not able to score due to the impressive efforts of Fink, Esther Lee, Linnea Knox, Liv Kubica, Edie Hufford, Cece Cramer, Sabine Stevens, and Penley Day. Many corners were played with no goals getting by our goalie, Sarah Hanks. In the final quarter, Alana McDonough scored our final goal off a hit from Charlotte Steffensen. This seemed to wrap up our season nicely as Alana scored the first goal of our season too. The coaches want to thank each member of our team for their great attitudes and support for each other! Go Big Green!!
