It took less than an hour for the JV Volleyball team to down the Williston Wildcats on Wednesday afternoon taking the match in three straight sets. The contest featured a lot of strong team-play with every player contributing in the match.
Set number one featured stellar serve receive from the team allowing for 6 assists from setter Selin Aksoy and kills from Blake Coleman, Devon Coleman, and Gigi Selvig. Travis Gerst continued her strong play by racking up 5 kills in the first set.
The Wildcats went on a run in set 2 with some strong serving and defense taking the set to a 10-16 lead. The Doors showed team resilience under pressure, however, and came rolling back with superior digs in the middle back from Gigi Selvig, an unbelievable save from Selin Aksoy, and aces to close out the set from Clara Lipman (2) and Travis Gerst (4).
The final set wasn’t ever in question with the team continuing their streak from the end of the second set. Senior Devon Coleman started the set with 9 points serving. Middle blocker Jessica Wu showed strong net play and Aksoy continued her dominant game with 6 assists and then 2 aces to close out the match. The team didn’t let up in the strong win and is on an upward trajectory going into the weekend match against St. Paul’s.
