On Parents Weekend, the Girls JV Volleyball Team put on a commanding performance at home, defeating St. Paul’s in straight sets. The team showcased strong serving, resilient defense, and powerful offense, continuing their winning momentum.
Karen Park shined as libero, leading the defense with precise passing and an impressive 6 aces. Kingsley Carolan, senior captain, anchored the back row with solid defensive play, keeping St. Paul’s offense in check.
Setter Selin Aksoy controlled the tempo of the game, dishing out 19 assists and adding 2 kills and 2 aces of her own. Katie Mountz was dominant at the net as middle blocker, contributing 7 kills and 5 aces.
Outside hitter and senior captain Devon Coleman was a key force, delivering 10 kills, including 7 in the final set to secure a comeback win after going down 1-7 early. She also served 5 aces, helping Deerfield maintain control throughout. Gigi Selvig added to the offensive power with 5 kills and 2 aces, while Travis Gerst’s 3 kills and defensive prowess on the right side added reliability and steadiness.
The team’s combination of strong serves, teamwork, and excellent defense sealed the victory, and they are excited to continue building on this success in their next match at home against Cushing Academy on Friday, October 11, 2024.
