The Big Green traveled to Exeter on an unusually warm fall day determined to refocus on playing Big Green soccer and that they did! The Big Green notched three goals in the first half to secure a 3-0 victory over the Big Red! Senior Cori Scagel opened the scoring with her first-ever Big Green gooooaaalll! The goal was the result of a Big Green set piece that was awarded just outside the Exeter box. Magda Curylo ’26 stepped up to take the set piece that was played to the feet of Eleanor duPont ’26 who played the ball across the goal to Cori for the finish on the back post!
The Big Green continued to press in the first half and earned another goal shortly thereafter when Maggie Garbarino ’27 played a through ball to Eleanor duPont ’26 who played the ball across to Meryl Gilbert ’27. Meryl earned an open shot that the goalkeeper saved, but was there to burry the rebound and notch the Big Green’s second goal of the game.
The Big Green registered their third and final tally of the game when Meryl connected a pass to Minjoo Serhant ’27 who placed a left-footed shot on frame and over the out-stretched Big Red goalkeeper for the team’s third goal and Minjoo’s first goal of season.
Ellie Schiller ’25 and Winnie Underwood ’28 shared the earned shutout in goal for the Big Green and defenders, Allie Corrieri ’25, Keira Austen ’26, Blythe Gering ’27, Ava Carvel ’25 and Lilly Woods ’26 all deserve a shout out on the shut out.
Adeeva Alli ’25 continued to push the Big Green attack in the second half with her strength and determination; laying off some wonderful passes to teammates and getting off a couple of shots of her own.
The Big will enjoy some earned rest and then return to action this Saturday against Andover. Kick off is set for 2:45pm.
