We scored four nice goals against Avon Old Farms and shut them down completely in the back. We brought more intensity and teamwork and simply outworked them. The scoring started early when seniors Andrew Lewis and Cai Harrison worked a nice give-n-go down the right wing. Andrew returned a cut back cross and Cai raced to the box and finished with a strong toe poke. Later in the first half, Andrew Lewis found himself alone deep in the Avon box and he turned a quick shot which curled high over the keeper. It was a beauty and pretty much spolied the hopes for Avon’s day. It was 2-0 at half and we were still hungry. In the second half, we were just as tough in the midfield, gaining dispossession after dispossession. Jack Zhunio found himself advancing a ball on the right midfield and he sent a strong diagonal pass all the way to Viktor Kibuuka on the left wing who settled the ball nicely, cut into the box, and slotted it home. Minutes later, Michael Hioe sent a throw in from the deep sideline right to striker Brian Gianvecchio’s feet. Brian settled and hit a quick shot from the top of the box up and over the keeper and perfectly into the top left corner. Another outstanding shot to pad our lead. This game revealed how much of an advantage we can gain from playing with intensity. We were passing well and we took more shots. Our confidence is brimming!
