Deerfield’s win streak came to an end on Wednesday afternoon as the sun set over Suffield Academy’s campus. Coming off a four-day weekend and playing an unusually late game after a full day of school, the team came out flat and went down before the third minute when an attempt to clear the ball deflected off Suffield’s forward up over our keeper’s grasp. Deerfield was slow to the ball and too reliant on dribbling for the remainder of the frustrating first half. In the huddle the team regrouped and came alive in the second half, playing as a unit, keeping the ball in Suffield’s half, and dominating on shots. Unfortunately, we just ran out of time. Middie PJ Pirsch ’28 and fullback Ryan Bai ’26 repeatedly threaded the ball through Suffield defense, and defenders Max Yau ’28 and Teddy Gonzalez ‘26 hustled hard to stifle SA’s attack. Deerfield now turns its attention to its trip to Westminster next Wednesday.
