Deerfield traveled to Taft on a beautiful fall afternoon to take on the Rhinos on their Fall Family Weekend and Senior Day. The Rhinos outplayed the Big Green in the first quarter and scored with a minute left to put Taft up 1-0. Deerfield regrouped before the 2nd though and put together a much stronger effort. It was Chloe Cleaves ‘26 who put DA on the board first on an assist from Lilly Oliver ’26, but Taft scored on a corner with a minute left in the half to give the Rhinos the 2-1 lead. DA continued to battle in the third and although Taft scored again early to go up 3-1, Julia Tamul ’25 scored a beautiful goal to make it 2-3. Taft finished their scoring on a corner to put them up 4-2, but Tamul capitalized on a Cleaves pass to make it 3-4 before the end of the third. The fourth quarter was very back and forth but no goals were scored. Taft finished with 14 penalty corners to DA’s 2. Cleaves, Tamul, Lalwani Surpitski ’26, Haley Abraham ’25, and Loulla Rousou ’25 all had great games and Kate Doucette ’27 was strong in net. Up next: DA hosts Worcester for our senior game on Wednesday.
