It was a sunny, warm day for October as Deerfield’s JV Field Hockey team faced off against Taft School. This was DA’s first game on grass, but the girls adapted beautifully, relying on the scooping skills they’ve been developing all season! Early in the first quarter, Campbell Ardrey had a beautiful lifted goal, assisted by Ella Waag; this was just the strong start we were hoping for. In the final seconds of the first quarter, Maggie O’Brien shoveled in a second goal, this time assisted by Emily Bruno. Taft answered in the second quarter, but Deerfield remained poised. Deerfield’s third goal came from Charlotte Steffensen, assisted by Emily Bruno off of a corner in the third quarter. Our final goal of the game came from Liana Chen, assisted by Campbell Ardrey. This was Liana’s first ever field hockey goal!! Despite having few subs, our defense held strong the entire game, letting in only one more goal from Taft in the third quarter. Deerfield attacked Taft with relentless pressure and strong stick skills. We’re walking away proud of another full team effort. Looking forward to our game next Saturday 10/26, at Andover.
