Deerfield JV Field Hockey took on Andover this Saturday on a perfect fall weekend. The leaves were beautiful, and we were excited to play them for their Fall Family Weekend. Despite that this was only our second game to play on grass, our team quickly took command of the play and dominated the first half of the game. Ellora Divitre would have scored if there was not a called foot foul. As usual, she was poised by goal, ready to tip in the ball. The Andover goalie was formidable, and we were proud of our team for recognizing her strength and yet continuing to believe in their own. Much like the first half of the game, in the second half our team dominated the field and kept the ball mostly in their end, with the most precise passing we have seen all season! Our team was truly using their strength as a team, with special notice to Emily Bruno, Charlotte Steffensen, Taylor Wilburn, Maggie O’Brien, and Campbell Ardrey, who would often switch fields or avoid Andover’s defense with their keen passing skills. For a brief moment in the 4th quarter, Andover got by our strong defense and managed to score giving them the lead 1-0. However, our team came back with a beautiful goal where Emily sent the ball to Campbell who lifted it in to score. We are extremely proud of our team, as they fought hard the entire game. We are feeling strong as we have a week off from games but look forward to playing Williston and Choate the following week. Go Big Green!
