The boys XC teams won against SPS today. The varsity won 25 (DA) – 32 (SPS), and the JV won 15 (DA) – 48 (SPS). The results are posted here.

Under cerulean skies and buoyed by their supportive parents, the Deerfield harriers won their footrace against the Pelicans of St. Paul’s School on Saturday of Fall Family Weekend. In the varsity race, three runners stormed to the front and set the tone for the entire race: Max Wang, Aiden Van Epps, and Arafat Jama. The top two runners from St. Paul’s were able to close on that lead pack in the final mile, but Max pulled ahead to claim the individual victory while Aiden and Arafat claimed the fourth and fifth finishing positions. In an unprecedented show of team strength, JT Gally and Liam Walker rounded out the scoring five for Deerfield in personal best times of 16:49 and 16:55 respectively. Also of note was the considerable strength of the Deerfield JV squad, which for the second week in a row posted a perfect score against their opponents. Jackson Violich led that JV with a very impressive time of 17:39 in his first ever 5k as a cross country runner, while Thijs Wittink, Ollie Peruzzi, Quinn Clark, and Reid McCoy rounded out the scoring 5 for the junior varsity. Looking ahead, the Doors will face league rivals Loomis Chaffee and Choate Rosemary Hall at Choate on Friday, October 11.
