Squash (Boys): Varsity vs. Exeter (01/06/24 1:00 PM)

Event Details

This Saturday the boys varsity squash team headed out to Boston to face off against ISL and Eight Schools opponents Belmont Hill and Phillips Exeter. The program is very proud that two of our top boys represented the USA at the British Junior Open this year, but it meant that on this day our players would all jump two positions on the ladder. The match with Belmont Hill had longer odds, and though the top 4 boys all competed well, we lost the 1 and 4 spots in 4 sets, while winning the two and three positions off an inspiring comeback from 0-2 deficit by Read Kitchel ’26, and a massive 3-0 victory by Kyle Yang ’26! The final result was a 5-2 win for the sextants.

Without a moment to spare or rest up, the boys went into action against Phillips Exeter, and although legs were less steady, the Big Green tamed the lions in convincing fashion. This time the score line reversed for a 5-2 win with victories logged in the 1, 2, 3, 6, and 7 positions by Youssef El Wabory ’25, Read Kitchel ’26, Kyle Yang ’26, Max Ng ’27, and Alex Ayers ’24. This result also represents the first varsity wins for Max and Alex, so it was outstanding to see them grab the chance to contribute to the team effort. This Wednesday we look to take on defending national champions Kent with our roster at full strength, so if you’re reading this Christian and Hart: get plenty of sleep on the plane!

Go Big Green!
