Deerfield Girls Hockey dominated the play against NMH on Wednesday afternoon at home, and skated away with a 9-1 win. Ava Giroux ’26 opened the scoring on the power play, deflecting home a Keira Austen ’26 shot. Then, Sophie Frost ’26 fired home a beautiful pass from Olivia Austen ’27, and Gia Thompson ’26 flipped a puck in off a face off win by Brady Wierl ’26. We only scored once in the second period, another power play goal, as Frost finished off a nice play by O. Austen and B. Wierl. We exploded for five goals in the third period: Annie Dinges ’24 on the power play from K. Austen, Kate Doucette ’27 earning her first goal of the season after hard work in front (assist to Allie Corrieri ’25), Dinges again on the power play (assist to K. Austen), Gillian Herr ’27 off of a beautiful pass from Thompson, and then Dinges completed the hattrick on the power play with assists to Corrieri and Thompson. Lauren Sobczak ’24 earned the hard hat for her incredible support all season long. We are up next at home on Friday night against Middlesex. Thank you to the Krotee families for providing pizza after the game!
