Deerfield Boys Varsity Hockey traveled to Salisbury for their first game of the year. Falling 8-5 to Salisbury, Deerfield was able to learn from each period. The first period ended 5-1 as Tom Molson ‘24 was able to finish with an assist from Justin Tavares ‘25. The boys regrouped for the second period with the hope of coming out stronger. Deerfield was able to stop Salisbury’s offensive rushes, keeping them to one goal. Zachary Chehade ‘25 capitalized with an assist from Tom Molson, not allowing Salisbury to get further ahead. Deerfield was able to maintain their defensive strength in the third period while connecting on offense as well. Lance Roberts ‘25 scored early in the third period, assisted by Cam Herr ‘24. Deerfield was able to build momentum resulting in a goal for Cam Herr, assisted by Conor Moriarty ‘24 soon after. With less than two minutes, Ben Cook ‘24 was able to finish Deerfield’s fifth goal, assisted by Zachary Chehade. With less than a minute left, Salisbury was able to solidify the win with an empty net, resulting in a final score of 8-5. Elliot Lennon ‘26 had an outstanding performance, keeping Deerfield in the game with several saves. Deerfield looks ahead to Wednesday’s game against Loomis.
