The Boys J.V. hockey team travelled to Wallingford Connecticut on Saturday to take on Choate for the second time this season. The first time these two teams met was in Decembers as Deerfield beat the visiting Choate team by a score of 4-2. On Saturday Deerfield won again, this time by a score of 8-3 improving their season’s record to 6-2-1.
Deerfield jumped to an early lead in the 1st period scoring the first 3 goals. Choate would score one goal before the period ended leaving the score at 3-1 for Deerfield. The 2nd and third periods saw lots of penalties and lots of goals. All four lines would contribute today. Goal scorers were Jack Kelly netted 4 goals on the day earning the game puck. Other scorers on the day were Gray Altemeyer, Cole Rorick, Cooper Brozek and Alexander Rolfe. Connor Hevesy had a good day in the net saving several good Choate scoring attempts. Owen Fleck had the highest +/- rating of the team’s 6 defensemen.
Cushing Varsity B team is next and they come to play this Wednesday at 2:45 p.m.
