The Boy’s Thirds basketball team faced off against the Loomis-Chaffe School in the Multipurpose room against the snow-blanketed lower fields on Wednesday. Having previously faced the Pelicans during a reduced-time tourney game, the Doors weren’t sure what to expect. They started with an effective 1-3-1 press that yielded a quick 5 points from Johnny Scagel ’25, however they lost their intensity when they moved to man defense. Things changed at the end of the first half and throughout the second half with better help-defense and a more vocal group. Michael Hioe ’27 and Eddie Andrews ’27 each recorded 2 blocks and Andrews sent one into the third row. Tommy Govi ’25 recorded another. Hawk Okpokwasili ’25 found his touch on the offensive end with 17 points to lead both teams. Jack Wagner ’26 and Jack Webb ’27 won the hustle awards with their energy and joy on the court. Game note: Jadin Smith ’26 went out early in the second half with a high ankle sprain. Let’s hope that heals quickly. The team travels to Avon Old Farms on Saturday to try to even the season series against the hot shooting Winged Beavers.
