Boys thirds basketball faced off against Eaglebrook for the second and final meeting of the season. Eaglebrook was thirsty for revenge and came out strong in their 2-3 defense. Deerfield couldn’t quite find their rhythm or intensity during the first quarter of play, but eventually amped up the half-court defense. They finished the half on a 15-2 run initiated with the hustle of Hawk Okpokwasili ’25 and culminating a Howard Jin ‘27 buzzer-beating 3. The second half started like the first, slow and unenthusiastic, but Jaylin Julmice ‘27 and Michael Hioe ‘27 turned up the pressure and found easy transition baskets off their defense. Deerfield won the contest 45-28, moving to 8-2 on the season. Deerfield will only have one practice before they head to Williston on Wednesday, Feb 7th, to try to hand the Wildcats their second loss of the season.
