The JV boys JV basketball team beat a talented Worcester Academy team 51-48 on Saturday afternoon. Deerfield had to fight back from an early 5-12 deficit, earning a 28-21 at the half. Will Machnik scored a team-high 13 points and handled the Worcester Academy press with aplomb. Senior Max Peh started the day with two beautiful lefty layups and finished the contest with 11 points. Teddy Hamadeh chipped in another double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Doors. Mac Hynds finished the game with 8 points and contributed pivotal plays in both halves: In the first, Mac jumped into a passing lane for a steal which he converted into two points with a smooth full-court layup. In the second half, the team moved the ball beautifully and Mac made a backdoor cut and converted a perfect bounce pass from Max into a layup that extended the Deerfield lead to 10 points. With this win, the Doors move to 4-2 on the season.
