Deerfield JV boys basketball lost to Andover on a free throw with 3 seconds remaining. The score was tied 21-21 at half, but Deerfield opened the second half well and built a 7-point lead with five minutes to play in the contest. Unfortunately, the Andover pressure proved too much in the final minutes, forcing a number of critical turnovers.
Will Machnik led the team with 14 points (3/4 from the three-point line) and provided crucial defensive intensity. Teddy Hamadeh contributed another double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Senior Max Peh chipped in 9 points. Junior Mac Hynds scored on two beautiful drives in the first half and held Andover’s leading scorer to zero points over much of the second half.
