Deerfield made the long trip down to Kent today to face a gritty and well-coached Kent squad. Big green looked to get back to their winning ways after a hard-fought draw against Taft on Wednesday. The match started with Deerfield looking a bit sluggish after a long bus ride and the game was pretty choppy until Big Green finally settled down, and in the 30th minute, Deerfield got on the board with a beautiful through ball from Jeffry Kamil to a streaking Owen Tymchuk down the left wing who finished to make it 1-0 Big Green. Deerfield would strike again just four minutes later when Cooper Johnson played an amazing long ball over the defensive line to Owen Tymchuk on the left wing who again showed his finishing composure to make it 2-0 Deerfield. In the second half, Big Green continued their strong play and generated several excellent chances through their possession and combination play in the offensive third. In the 70th minute, Deerfield made it 3-0 when solid possession through the midfield led to Barack Mwesigwa breaking in on the left side to play a great horizontal ball to Owen Tymchuk at the penalty dash who showed great composure to draw the defenders in and dish off a beautiful touch pass to Luca Lyons who buried it home. Deerfield would add another just a minute later when Luca Lyons tracked down a ball on the right wing and played Jeffry Kamil in the box who beautifully tucked the ball behind his back to set up a left-footed finish to make it 4-0 Big Green. The day was capped off by an excellent save by Marko Wuchenich in the closing minutes to seal the game for Deerfield. All in all, a great effort by Big Green!
