We lost a tough match 0-2 to our neighbors down the street Northfield Mount Herman. They beat us at our own game of sharp, on-the-ground passing through the midfield. Our boys battled well though, with great energy out of the gates. NMH scored just before halftime when Finn Knight ’25 made an excellent play to block a shot only to have it deflect strangely toward the goal and off the post. Keeper Joe Berman ’25, who played a stellar game in net for us, had no chance to make a play. In the second half, Winston Cho ’25 earned a penalty kick on a nice ball from MacGregor Hynds ’25 into the NMH box. We missed that PK however. NMH extended their lead to 2-0 a bit later after persistent attack of our back line. They finished a good chance well. Later, we earned another PK and missed again. Tai Feng ’26 tested the NMH goalier in close as well. We could have used those two PKs, obviously, but NMH could have had some more too. Nevertheless, we were disappointed to let a draw slip through our hands. The benefit of playing a strong team early in the season is to have our weaknesses exposed. We have work to do before we meet NMH again later this season.
