Surrounded and supported by a passionate crowd of fans (plus the birds, bees, and farm animals that frequent the perimeter of our home turf), JV Field Hockey had an exciting win in our season opener today against Berkshire. We played four suspenseful quarters, during which all twenty-four of our spirited squad made appearances. Lexi Rohan ‘25 had a stellar game, regularly setting up plays from the top of the circle and taking shots on goal. She also scored the game winning goal in the final 1:10 of game play off of a dramatic drive from left back Josephine Cramer ‘24. Other game highlights included superb offensive pressure in the first quarter from forwards Rohan, Lila Church ‘25, Brooke Stroh ‘23, and Lila King ‘23, as well as consistent, calm, and collected defensive efforts in the second period from Cramer, Linnea Knox ‘27, Lalwani Surpitski ‘26, and Penley Day ‘25. A huge shoutout to Esther Lee’s ‘25 fiery performance at right back; one wouldn’t have been able to tell it was her first ever Field Hockey game! Lee wasn’t the only one playing her first field hockey game today, either. Each of the new players brought her A-game this afternoon. We had an awesome time celebrating the win with our many spectators after the game. We hope to gather another crowd at our next game at Hotchkiss, 9/23.
