The Brush Invitational kicked off the season for the harriers of Deerfield in near-perfect conditions. The friendly, unscored meet saw runners from Northfield Mount Hermon, Bement, Eaglebrook, Cushing, and Worcester contend against the Doors in both 3 kilometer and 5 kilometer events. Arafat Jama ’27, running his first race for Deerfield, won the 3k in a blazing 9 minutes and 35 seconds. Max Wang ’25 won the 5k in a hard-fought battle against an NMH runner. Max’s time was a remarkable 16 minutes and 33 seconds. These outstanding results headlined a terrific day of racing for the entire roster, and the team looks forward to their next contest and first scored meet, which will be the NMH Invitational on September 30 against a wide spread of peer institutions.
