Tennis (Boys): Varsity vs. Suffield Academy (5/15/2023 4:45 PM)

Event Details

Boys varsity tennis closed out their regular season with a clean sweep, 7-0, against Suffield Academy away on Monday, May 15.
Doubles ran smoothly for the Doors, with all three teams only losing a combined four games acros the board. Everything was working for the team: good serves, strong groundstrokes, and lots of poaching.
As usual, singles proved a bit more challenging with two courts being stretched to 7-5 sets but for the most part Suffield was unable to make much of a dent and each match finished in straight sets. Junior Tom Molson logged his first win at the #1 spot 7-5, 6-3; courts 2 through 5 cruised in their victories; and senior Jack Willett, playing in his final match as a Door, had big leads in both of his sets but had to dig deep to close them both out 7-5, 6-3. We’ll miss you, Jack!
With this win, the team finishes the season at 5-6. Although that record may mean the end of the ’22-’23 season, the team deserves credit for fighting week in and week out without ever competing with its full lineup of players. Each member of the team contributed to match play throughout the season and we are thankful for the hard work everyone put in and the camaraderie that developed along the way.
