DA varsity boys tennis fell to rival Choate 5-2 on Saturday, May 6 in Wallingford, CT.
Injury and illness once again affected the team’s lineup, and doubles in particular paid the price: for only the second time all season, DA dropped all three doubles contests. On courts #2 and #3, the Doors battled until 5-6 at which point Choate was able to pull away with 8-5 victories in both matchups. #1 Johnson/Li had a harder time, falling 8-2 to their solid opponents.
In singles, #1 Brick Johnson and #3 Ethan Li were able to avenge their doubles loss with good straight-set wins. #2 Tom Molson battled a talented competitor and almost snagged the second set but ultimately fell in straight sets; #4, 5, and 6 fought hard as well but were unable to win more than 3 games in any of their sets.
The Doors now have a 4-4 record with only three more regular season matches to go. On Wednesday, May 10 the team will travel to Lakeville, CT to compete against Hotchkiss at 4pm.
