Tennis (Boys): Varsity vs. NMH (4/26/2023 3:00 PM)

Event Details

Boys varsity tennis defeated NMH 6-1 at home on Wednesday, April 26.
Doubles was strong for the Doors, with DA only losing four games total across all three matches. With two of the partnerships playing together for the first time, that’s an impressive stat to say the least!
Singles proved a bit more challenging but the team fought up and down the ladder and were successful in five of the six matchups. Playing #1, co-captain Ethan Li battled a human backboard. After losing a close first set, Li played aggressively and cut down on errors to take a 4-1 lead in the second, but as errors crept back in and his opponent cleaned up his game, he ultimately lost it 7-5 to give NMH their sole win of the day.
Playing in his first match since Taft on 4/15, #2 Tom Molson made quick work of his opponent with beautiful volleys and dropshots. #3 Tai Feng and #4 Walker Naughton played solid tennis to earn their straight set wins; Ryan Diffley logged his first dual match singles win in the #5 spot as did #6 Jack Willett, playing in his first ever varsity singles match. Willett cruised through his first set but had to find another gear at 4-5 in the second to close it out 7-5.
The win brings the team back to .500 with a 3-3 record overall. On Saturday, April 29 the team will compete against Hoosac at 1pm in Deerfield.
