It was smooth sailing as the boys varsity tennis team defeated Kingswood Oxford 7-0 away in West Hartford on Wednesday, 4/12. The win brings the team to 1-1 on the season.
The Doors swept all the doubles matches with big serving, deep groundstrokes, and aggressive net play. The #1 team of juniors Brick Johnson/Max Peh lost 4 games en route to their victory; no other court was able to win that many games against DA!
The dominance continued in singles with only two sets conceding 3 or more games to KO. With usual #2 Max Peh sitting out due to a pulled abdominal, the rest of the team stepped up and played confidently and aggressively to secure the win. Sophomore Walker Naughton, playing for his first time at #6 singles, showed that he’s ready to compete by handling his opponent 6-0, 6-2.
Next up the team will be competing against Taft in Watertown, CT on Saturday, 4/15 at 3:30pm.
