Deerfield fell to Loomis 6-5 in the home opener. Trailing 6-2 headed into the bottom of the 7th, Deerfield staged a rally and scored 3 runs and had the bases loaded with 2 outs but failed to score the game-tying or winning run. DH Henry Prince went 2-3 with a BB, RBI and run scored to lead the Deerfield offense. RF Stephen Souder was 1-1 with 2 BB and a run scored. RP Pete Shea pitched well out of the bullpen, going 3.33 IP allowed just 1 hit and struck out 4 batters.
