Deerfield’s JV Swim team took on Suffield once again, this time at home. What they lacked in points, Deerfield swimmers more than made up in strong swims and enthusiasm. In addition to 20 personal best times, the JV team fielded 10 swims in events never tried before. This team is adventurous and excited to get stronger and faster every week.
Especially notable swims came from freshmen including Melody Zhao and Teagan Farley. Melody was 2nd in both the 100 IM and the 100 breaststroke and swam personal best times in both events. Teagan swam four personal best times, 3 in relays and the 4th while winning the 100 backstroke. Sophomore Evan Xie swam a personal best taking 2nd in the 100 freestyle. The team was joined by 3 divers for the first time this season. Gabe Swisher-Rosa was first in the diving with Tyler Ettelson taking 3rd. Ian Choi won the 50 freestyle and all 3 divers joined forces with Miu Yatsuka to take second in the 200 free relay.
Next week JV swim travels to Northfield Mount Herman to take on NMH and Bement.
