In the final game before Long Winter Weekend, Deerfield Girls Hockey traveled to Winchendon for an afternoon match up. Despite several players being out or limited due to injury and illness, the team put together a solid effort, and skated away with a 3-0 victory. Kaley MacDonald ’23 opened the scoring with a snipe (assist to Brady Wierl ’26) in the first period, and then Peyton Wierl ’26 scored off of a beautiful shot in the third (assist to MacDonald). Annie Dinges ’24, who played a particularly strong final two periods, added an unassisted empty net goal to seal the win, despite some late penalty trouble from the Big Green bench. There was great energy up and down the bench today, but Sam Olander ’23 received a well earned hard hat for her strong pinches and poised decision making. Campbell Krotee ’25 got the shut out in goal, and Cal Ferraris ’23 once again demonstrated her team first attitude with her willingness to play wherever was needed. Thank you to the Cericola family for the sandwiches, chips and drinks after the game.
