The boys JV hockey team lost a close match on Wednesday against Eaglebrook by a score of 4-2. The game was close the whole way until the last few minutes when the visitors took advantage of some defensive zone lapses and netted two goals to seal the win for them. Nick Gerard was in net and he played well throughout turning away many good scoring opportunities for EBS. The first period ended with a 1-0 lead for Deerfield after Alexander Rolfe tipped in a shot coming from Rob Callender at the blue line. The second period saw Eaglebrook come back strong scoring 2 goals stealing back the lead. Then with less than a minute remaining in the period Rolfe would score his second goal on the day off a rebound off a shot from line mate Alex Sotirhos. After two periods the score was deadlocked at 2- The third period began with Deerfield applying great pressure at the EBS end of the ice. However, the Doors couldn’t find the back of the net. Credit goes to the Eaglebrook goalie and defense for remaining calm under pressure and working their way back into the game. With under 4 minutes remaining in the game Eaglebrook would score the eventual game winner. They added one more a minute later to end the score at 4-2 in their favor.
The team will finish their season with three games against Williston, NMH and Westminster. We’ll play Williston on Saturday at 2:30.
