Deerfield Girls Hockey made the long trip to Millbrook on Friday night, and skated away with a 3-2 OT win. It wasn’t pretty, and we lacked our usual speed and compete level, but ultimately found a way to get the job done. Keira Austen ‘26 opened the scoring (the first of her DA career!) off of a smart shot from the point (assist to Mia Goetzke ‘24), but then Millbrook tied it up after a tough giveaway in front of our net. Annie Dinges ‘24 put us back in front with a hard-nosed goal (assist to Olivia Austen ‘27), but Millbrook tied the score once again early in the third. Injuries and penalties derailed our momentum in the final period, but the penalty kill units and Campbell Krotee ‘25 held strong and sent the game into overtime. Gillian Herr ‘27, in her first game back from injury, buried the winner off of an assist from Allie Corrieri ‘25, making the bus ride home a little happier! Bailey Miller ‘24 was outstanding on defense for us tonight, and Gia Thompson ‘26 earned the hard hat for her relentless forecheck. Many thanks to the parents for the delicious Panera dinner after the game! After a midnight return to campus, we look forward to getting some sleep and taking on BB&N at home on Saturday afternoon.
