Though the game ended in a disappointing 3-3 tie, Deerfield Girls Hockey showed a lot of grit and heart in putting forth a strong effort against BB&N at home on Saturday afternoon. We battled hard through tired legs, and though there remains a lot of work to be done in the defensive zone, this young season is off to a good start. Keira Austen ‘26 opened the scoring with a beautiful finish off of a great Sophie Frost ‘26 pass. The visitors tied the score early in the second, but we responded with two gritty goals: Olivia Austen ‘27 scored on the power play (assist to Izzy Cericola ‘24), and Annie Dinges ‘24 finished off a great effort from Julia Tamul ‘25 and Frost. Though we played pretty well in the third period, BB&N pulled within one off of a nice deflection, then tied the score on a tough rebound. Neither team could convert in overtime, and so both settled for the tie. Frost earned the hard hat today, and Allie Corrieri ‘25 led us on defense with her tremendous compete level. We’ll have a few days of practice before heading to Cushing for their holiday tournament.
