Deerfield Boys Varsity Hockey continued to show their resilience on the road against NMH, coming away with a 5-3 win. A Deerfield goal was scored early on that was called back. Deerfield responded with their first goal of the game, scored by Justin Tavares ‘25, assisted by Nate Watson ‘26. Soon after Jakub Kohn ‘24 was able to find the back of the net with assists from Ben Cook ‘24 and Tom Molson ‘24. Deerfield led 2-1 at the end of the first. Once again, the physicality picked up in the second period. Deerfield was able to capitalize on their third goal of the game, scored on the power play by Tommy Augustine ‘24. The score at the end of the second period was tied 3-3. The boys came out hungry in the third period. Deerfield maintained possession of the puck for the majority of the final period. With three and a half minutes left in the game, Lance Roberts ‘25 was able to set Cam Herr ‘24 up for a beautiful finish, scoring the game-winning goal. NMH continued to put on pressure in the final minutes. However, Deerfield was able to possess the puck, securing the win with an empty net scored by Lance Roberts. The boys are ready to head to Choate on Saturday to continue such versatility and grit.
