Deerfield Boys Varsity Hockey defeated rival Choate with a score of 7-1 on Saturday. Jakub Kohn ‘24 was able to finish early on in the first with an assist from Ben Cook ‘24. Soon after, Tom Molson ‘24 added to the score, assisted by Jakub Kohn. Despite a close score of 2-1 at the end of the first period, Deerfield came out with intensity in the second. Lance Roberts ‘25 capitalized on the power play with assists from Cam Herr ‘24 and Ryan Diffley ‘25. Matteo Alvarez ‘26 scored to get Deerfield’s fourth goal of the game. Lance Roberts scored to further the lead toward the end of the second period. Throughout the second, the boys played consistently, maintaining possession of the puck. Going into the third period, Deerfield did not let up. Tom Molson, assisted by Justin Tavares ‘25, found the back of the net within the first minute of the period. Choate made a few final attempts until Tommy Augustine ‘24 buried the last one home with less than a minute left in the game. Deerfield goes on to play Avon Old Farms on Sunday. Looking to keep up the fast-paced play as we head into the second game of the weekend.
