Deerfield Boys Varsity Hockey fell short to Avon Old Farms with a final score of 5-3. Deerfield came out strong, winning the first period 2-0. Both goals came from Zachary Chehade ‘25 assisted by Justin Tavares ‘25. Despite Deerfield’s lead, Avon did not let up. Deerfield had a difficult time breaking out of the defensive zone. Nate Watson ‘26 was able to capitalize despite this. The second period ended 5-3. Deerfield stayed hungry. The boys had multiple chances but were unable to bury it deep. Defensively, Deerfield was able to keep Avon from capitalizing, resulting in a scoreless third period. John Tolve ‘24 held strong in the net with several outstanding saves.
