In a commanding performance, Deerfield Academy’s JV boys’ basketball team secured a convincing 49-28 victory over Westminster. The game’s early moments belonged to Teddy Hamadeh, who singlehandedly notched the first seven points for Deerfield. Mac Hynds contributed with a highlight-worthy offensive rebound and a traditional three-point play, energizing the crowd. Deerfield’s ball movement and finesse were on full display as Hamadeh orchestrated a beautiful pass to Tyler Long, dissecting Westminster’s formidable 2-3 zone defense. Max Peh and Will Machnik then added to the spectacle with a flawless give-and-go play that expanded the lead to a staggering 21-2 in the first half, showcasing the team’s remarkable synergy.
Despite Westminster’s second-half resurgence, closing the gap to just ten points, Deerfield dominated the paint and emerged victorious in the rebounding battle, thanks to the relentless efforts of many players, including Cooper Johnson and Tucker Gongaware. In the waning moments of the game, Marty Liu’s clutch free throws ended Westminster’s impressive comeback bid. With this win, Deerfield Academy’s JV boys’ basketball team improved to a 2-0 record.
