Deerfield Academy’s JV boys’ basketball team secured a 50-29 victory over Suffield, continuing their strong start to the season with a 3-0 record.
The game began with Suffield taking an early 3-0 lead, setting the stage for a competitive matchup. However, the Doors found their rhythm when Marty Liu set up Mac Hynds for a basket, followed by Will Machnik’s high-arching three-pointer, giving Deerfield a 9-3 lead.
Hynds and Teddy Hamadeh shone with their work on the offensive glass, contributing five and six offensive rebounds, respectively. The first half concluded with a memorable buzzer-beating three-pointer from Brady Read, extending Deerfield’s lead to 23-5.
Suffield made a spirited comeback effort in the second half, displaying effective drives and sharp shooting. However, Deerfield’s teamwork prevailed. Hamadeh’s assist to Tyler Long resulted in a tough two-pointer, and Long then made a beautiful pass himself, finding Max Peh for a well-executed finish.
With just a few minutes remaining, Hynds secured an offensive rebound and set up Machnik for a game-sealing three-pointer, solidifying the score at 42-22. The game concluded emphatically with Long converting a three-point play to make it 50-29.
