With clouds and temperature in the low 40s, we played Suffield at home to a chilly 1-1 draw. Suffield earned a penalty shot in the opening minutes, which they converted. They had a few shots over the bar in the remainder of the first half and a nice hit in the second half, which Joe Berman (’25) saved expertly. Otherwise, our defense handled the Suffield attack well, as usual. After a couple of near misses, we tied things up just before halftime when MacGregor Hynds (’25), who was playing right wing, dispossessed a Suffield midfielder on an excellent backtracking play, and then initiated a sharp attack. He played a perfectly weighted through ball to on-running striker Bryan Gianvecchio (’26) who slotted his second goal of the season tidily past the stranded Suffield keeper. We had the better chances in the second half with a would-be-game-winning chance in the final minutes which was sent just wide. This was yet another tie which we could have won, but once again we walk away proud knowing we worked hard for the draw and played well as a team. With injuries piling up, we asked even more of this squad who respond with a “next man up” attitude and a willingness to play multiple positions. With one match remaining, we are dead set on a strong finish vs Choate on Saturday!
