The boys junior B footballers traveled down the street to the Bement School on November 1st in a driving snowstorm to face their local rival for the second time this season, after defeating them at home 3-1 on September 20th. Fortunately, it was bright and sunny by the end of the game, but the field conditions were still wet all afternoon. The game was evenly matched throughout and Bement were much improved from earlier in the season, but Deerfield were still able to emerge with a 1-0 victory to raise their record to 7-1-0. The lone goal came late in the 1st half on a through ball from Cole Higgins ’26 to Matias Cushman ’25, who was able to beat the keeper with a low, wide shot that just barely made it into the lower corner of the net. Bement was threatening throughout the match, hitting the crossbar several times, but keeper Arvin Mou ’25 was up to the challenge and recorded his fourth clean sheet of the season. Both teams had chances in the 2nd half, but no one was able to beat the keepers and the match ended without any additional goals. Quad Squad will attempt to end the season without a loss when they face nemesis Vermont Academy on November 4th at the lower fields with a 2:30 pm start in the last game of the season.
